Philosophy, Importance and Objectives:

Philosophy and Importance:

Globalization brings forth tremendous changes in economic, social, political and technological administration and management.

In the area of public administration, changes take place in government system reforms, namely the enactment of Public Administration and Management Laws, and the proclamation of Civil Services Development Plan with the emphasis to good governance, modified roles of public sectors, and decentralization to local administrative authorities. This calls for the need to employ personnel who are qualified with adequate knowledge and know-how and visions (images of success) in public sector management to make possible the most effective and most efficient organizational development.

            Bangkokthonburi University, realizing the importance of civil service reforms, decentralization to local administrative authorities, and integrated systems development to meet the need of the society and the nation as a whole, proposed to the University Council the Master of Public Administration Program (M.PA) to develop and foster public administration competencies and capability of the administrators and personnel needed by thousands of local administrative authorities such, Municipalities and Village Administrative Authorities; encouraging self-development to be knowledgeable and skillful as the change leaders and chief change officers to bring up work excellence along the ever-changing world by cultivating public administration specialists who are strategic thinkers as needed by the society and the nation.

 

Objectives: The objectives of Master of Public Administration Program are four-fold:

  1. To foster MPA graduates with morality, professional ethics and paradigm to use the people-centered administration with potential in continuous self-development, keep abreast with modern technological development and become role models for
  2. To produce MPA graduates to be knowledgeable, capable, skillful, and competent in public sector management both theories and practices with the emphasis on good governance for public interests;
  3. To foster MPA graduates with research and analytical ability to search for new findings in public administration and applying them to the public use;
  4. To produce MPA graduates with good interpersonal relations who can work in teams and relates well with others;
  5. To produce MPA graduates with quantitative and numeric skills, communication and information technology skills;
  6. To produce MPA graduates who are able to transfer knowledge, skills and experiences in public administration to all concerned individuals and organizations;
