Professor (Special) Dr. Duangrit Benjathikul Chairungruang presided over the opening of the academic seminar on "Why Bangkok Metropolitan Council Members are Important to Urban Development," organized by the Faculty of Political Science, Bangkok Thonburi University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Metropolitan Political Studies. The seminar aimed to promote a correct understanding of special forms of local government among students and faculty members, and to raise awareness among participants about the importance of citizen participation in various aspects of local governance.
Furthermore, the academic seminar also provided participants with a better understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and legal powers of Bangkok Metropolitan Council members, which will be beneficial in enhancing public awareness of citizen participation in future urban development.
The seminar featured distinguished speakers: Associate Professor Dr. Wichit Suradinthakorn, Head of the Faculty of Metropolitan Political Studies; Dr. Thanyathorn Thep Yaemuthai, Secretary of the Faculty of Metropolitan Political Studies; and Dr. Natthawarin Bawornphakwuttisiri, Spokesperson of the Faculty of Metropolitan Political Studies. The discussion on this topic was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Chetha Sapyean.
The event was well-attended by administrators, faculty members, students, and interested individuals at the Sport Complex Building, 4th floor, Bangkok Thonburi University.
