On February 22, 2026, Professor (Special) Dr. Duangrit Benjathikul Chairungruang presided over the opening ceremony of the workshop and short film competition on the topic of “Mother.” This workshop was jointly organized by the Faculty of Communication Arts, Bangkok Thonburi University, the Sap Panya Foundation, Yodcha Thai Co., Ltd., and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP). The workshop was held as a Professional Experience & Creative Workshop. Admiral Chetha Jaipeam, Chairman of the Sap Panya Foundation, Mr. Vichit Tangnoi, Executive Chairman of the Sap Panya Foundation, and Vice Admiral Wiphan Chamachoti, Secretary-General of the Foundation, also honored the opening ceremony with their presence.
This workshop reflects the collaboration between educational institutions, the private sector, and the social sector in promoting learning, creating quality media for society, and fostering knowledge, understanding, academic exchange, and the development of professional skills related to communication arts. It also strengthens academic networks among educational institutions, the private sector, and the social sector.
The Faculty of Communication Arts also promoted the development of skills in scriptwriting, directing, and film production, serving as a starting point for creating valuable works. This could potentially develop into a broader platform in the future and also fulfills the policy of providing academic services to society.
The short film competition on the theme of "Mother" reflects the symbolism of love, sacrifice, bonding, and profound memories in life. Therefore, conveying these through the filmmaking process is both a professional learning experience and a learning experience in terms of spiritual values. It attracted interest from students, and the general public, with more than 600 teams applying to participate in the project. This reflects the power of the new generation who want to use "short films" as a creative tool to communicate their thoughts, understanding, feelings, and social values.
This training was honored by the presence of distinguished speakers who lectured on the topics of "Telling Life and Memories Through Film" by Mr. Oui Nonthri Nimibutr, "Scriptwriting and Directing that Creates Emotional Engagement" by Mr. Tom Pen-ek Ratanaruang, and "The Power of Visuals and Storytelling in Advertising in Short Films" by Mr. Nang Pongpaiboon Sittikoo. A "Creative Workshop & Film Development" activity was also held for the participants. The training included two topics: "Character First: Creating the Character of 'Mother' from Reality to Film," led by Dr. Krittiya Kaveejarukorn, and "From Script to Screen: Planning the Production of Short Films for Competitions," led by Mr. Kulavut Topichit, a lecturer from the Faculty of Communication Arts, Bangkok Thonburi University.
The project attracted a large number of participants, including administrators, faculty members, students, and the general public. 500 teams participated in the online training, while another 100 teams attended the training in person at the Hotel and Tourism Management Building, 2nd floor, Bangkok Thonburi University.
